Functiebeschrijving

  • Teaching regular modules in the curricula of Communication Science at the bachelor and master level;
  • supervising and evaluating internships, Bachelor theses and Master theses;
  • carrying out research within the program Persuasive Communication of the ASCoR research programme;
  • participating in committees, groups and projects in the program group.

Functie-eisen

The candidate:
  • Has a PhD in one of the social sciences, preferably communication science, consumer or health psychology, or related disciplines;
  • has an in-depth knowledge of their sub-discipline, proven by publications in prominent international journals and through well-known publishers;
  • has a strong empirical analytical research profile;
  • has the qualities to apply for competitive research grants in the future;
  • has teaching experience, preferably BKO (otherwise to be obtained);
  • excellent PhD candidates in their final phase are explicitly encouraged to apply.

Arbeidsvoorwaarden

The Assistant professorships (UD2) are scale 11, pending experience and track record, ranging from 3,195 to 4,374 gross per month (full-time). Promotion to UD1 (scale 12) ranging from 3,872 to 4,970 gross per month (full-time), is possible in the future, pending resources and performance.
The committee will make offers pending the vacancy, the financial situation and the experience and track record of the candidates.

Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences
The Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences (FMG) is the largest educational and research institution in the social sciences in the Netherlands. The faculty serves 9,000 students in numerous Bachelor's and Master's programmes in Political Science, Sociology, Anthropology, Communication Science, Psychology, Social Geography, Planning and International Development Studies, and Educational Sciences. The academic staff is employed in education as well as research. There are over 1,200 employees at the Faculty, which resides in a number of buildings in the centre of Amsterdam.

Department of Communication Science
The Department of Communication Science is organized along the lines of socially relevant issues, as reflected in the research and teaching programs. There are currently four program groups (Persuasive Communication, Political Communication and Journalism, Corporate Communication, and Youth and Media Entertainment). In addition the Department has a group of General Communication Science.
