Responsibilities
We are looking for a Assistant Professor of American Political History/American Studies to teach a broad range of BA and MA courses and supervise BA and MA theses. Your research will be embedded in the HCLS research institute. In addition to teaching and research, you will be given administrative responsibilities.
Work environment
The Faculty of Arts consists of ten departments in the areas of language and culture, history, history of arts, linguistics and business communication, which together cater for about 2,900 students and collaborate closely in teaching and research.
Research at the Faculty of Arts is embedded in two research institutes: the institute for Historical, Literary and Cultural Studies (HLCS) and the Centre for Language Studies (CLS).

The salary for this position will be at level 11 of the CAO-HBO (Collective Labour Agreement), earning a monthly maximum of € 4365.16 gross (full-time). For this position you will be offered a contract for the period of one year. You will get a fixed annual benefit of 8.3%. Apart from this, NHTV University of Applied Sciences offers you an 8% holiday allowance, a compensation for your Health Insurance and several compensations for sports activities.

The Department:
The Information Systems department uses a central model to provide an maintain all ICT services for the Leiden office, all foreign offices and our crane vessels around the globe. The department is organized in four sections; Business Applications, Technology Applications, Infrastructure and ICT projects. Standardization & uniformity are key. The infrastructure is based on state of the art hardware and includes an IP telephony system. The business processes are supported by means of SAP, Infor, Oracle and Microsoft solutions. Next to that Engineering and CAD applications are provided for the engineering departments.


Description of the function:
The IT Contract Manager reports directly to the Manager of the Information Systems department and has a focus on Business Intelligence in the management of all ICT Contracts (Hardware and Software) and licences. Better business decision-making demands to stay in close contact with local and international suppliers to review and renew contracts and services to guarantee optimal IT services for the whole HMC organisation.

Your daily activities:
  • Monitor the use of hardware and software licenses and propose improvements for over- and underutilization
  • Monitor the running contracts and prepare and execute renewal proposals together with the Legal and Procurement departments
  • Develop and maintain the HMC ICT hardware and software maintenance contracts
  • With the assistance of the department secretary develop the hardware and software asset management process including management reporting functions
  • Develop and maintain all ICT licences used worldwide
  • Support requests from the HMC organization in relation to ICT contracts and licences


You have:

  • Bachelor degree with a few years of experience with ICT contract management
  • Experience with the SAP procurement process is a pre
  • Experience with hardware and software asset management is a pre
  • Good command in the English and the Dutch language

Environment
Cardiovascular Research Institute Maastricht, with excellent research groups within the microRNA field, including Leon de Windt, Blanche Schroen and Stephane Heymans, all grouped together within the department of Cardiology.
Project
The aim of the project is to discover novel microRNAs implicated in heart failure induced by the metabolic risk factors (hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipidemia), unravel their biological role, and study their therapeutic prospects for treating metabolic risk induced diseases, with a particular focus on heart failure and ocular diseases. Methods include, omics, bioinformatics, rodent experiments and molecular work.
This project is a collaborative project (exchange of people) between Maastricht University (Netherlands), Santaris Pharma (MicroRNA medicines, Denmark) and Omics/bioinformatical centre (GIGA, Liège, Belgium).
