Development of microRNA-medicines for Cardiac Metabolic Diseases .
MicroRNA -Metabolic Syndrome (Diabetes-Hypertension-Hyperlipidemia-Obesity) Heart -Eye-Inflammation.
Cardiovascular Research Institute Maastricht, with excellent research groups within the microRNA field, including Leon de Windt, Blanche Schroen and Stephane Heymans, all grouped together within the department of Cardiology.
The aim of the project is to discover novel microRNAs implicated in heart failure induced by the metabolic risk factors (hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipidemia), unravel their biological role, and study their therapeutic prospects for treating metabolic risk induced diseases, with a particular focus on heart failure and ocular diseases. Methods include, omics, bioinformatics, rodent experiments and molecular work.
Experience in microRNA research, target analysis & upstream regulation, rodent experiments and related molecular work is requested.
