Job description
The Faculty of Arts of the University of Groningen is seeking
to appoint a Full Professor of History and Theory of International
Relations.
The position requires the professor to:
- provide teaching in History and Theory of International Relations at all levels (BA, MA and PhD)
- coordinate and conduct research in the field of the History and Theory of International Relations
- raise external funds for research
- supervise PhD students
- perform administrative and organizational duties
- cultivate and develop national and international contacts to further teaching and research.
The position requires the professor to:

Requirements
The successful candidate will be an internationally recognized
expert with a broad, interdisciplinary profile who will be able to act
as a key figure for the department of International
Relations&International Organization and to provide leadership,
motivation and supervision in both research and teaching.
Candidates are expected to:
- hold a PhD in International Relations or in a closely related field and to be renowned in their field of expertise
- be an experienced and dedicated lecturer
- have extensive research experience in the field of History and Theory of International Relations, in particular the latest methodological, theoretical and historiographical developments regarding Global Governance
- have a broad, interdisciplinary approach to teaching and research
- possess good managerial, administrative and organizational skills
- be successful at raising external funds for research
- be successful at supervising PhD students
- be able to promote public interest in the field.

Conditions of employment
The University of Groningen offers a full time position as Full
Professor 2 preferably as from 1 September 2012. The salary will be €
4,904 (minimum)/ € 7,142 (maximum) gross per month for a full-time
appointment (CAO for Dutch universities).
