Job description
You
will be working in the Laboratory of Experimental Oncology in a group
led by Dr. S.M.A. Lens. Research focuses on understanding how faithful
chromosome segregation is normally ensured and why this segregation
process is perturbed in cancer cells. The project encompasses
biochemical, molecular biological, and cell-imaging techniques. You will
also enroll in the CGDB Ph.D. program of Utrecht University’s Graduate
School of Life Sciences.
Requirements
You
are an enthusiastic, motivated Ph.D. student with a master’s degree in
(medical) biology or (bio)chemistry. You must eventually be able to
carry responsibility for your own research project and be a team player.
You should also be able to communicate your work to an international
scientific audience. Experience with cell culture, microscopy, safe
microbiological techniques and radioactive isotopes would be an
advantage.
Conditions of employment
For this 100% post the maximum salary will be € 2.700,- per month. This will be a temporary appointment for 4 years.

Prof. E. Voest and Prof. G. Kops, the Laboratory of Experimental
Oncology is a dynamic research lab in the Department of Medical
Oncology. The lab hosts several research groups working on different
cancer-related topics, including chemotherapy resistance, cancer genome
sequencing, and causes and consequences of chromosomal instability. The
lab is multidisciplinary and international, which ensures scientific
quality and a good atmosphere.
