Vacancy: LEGAL OFFICER at Japanese Bicycle company in Nunspeet the Netherlands
Shimano Inc. Japan is the well-known and leading manufacturer of bicycle components, fishing tackle and other sporting goods. Our products are sold worldwide through an extensive network of distributors and sales offices.
Shimano Europe Holding BV, Shimano's European headquarters located in Nunspeet (the Netherlands), currently provides support to 14 sales offices throughout Europe. At present, the Shimano Europe Group has more than 450 employees all across Europe. At the European headquarters the legal department provides legal support to domestic and international sales offices in all relevant legal areas, including intellectual property, labor law, antitrust, product liability law, insurance law, mergers and acquisitions and business law in a wide variety of issues. Due to the continuous (international) growth of our company, we are looking for a full-time:
LEGAL OFFICER
(Min. 5 years of experience)
The job
You will advise and support the organization in legal matters and issues, both on request and proactively. You will contribute to creating and monitoring an optimal legal position of the organization. Your main tasks will include:
• Providing information and support on a day-to-day basis to all levels of the organization in all relevant legal areas;
• Negotiating and drafting various (international) contracts, including distributor, purchase and sponsor agreements;
• Advising on EU trade and competition law;
• Mergers and acquisitions;
• Advising on and managing intellectual property;
• Further legal professionalising the organisation, amongst others by implementing procedures and by giving legal training and seminars to the organisation;
• Advising on employment conflicts and litigation;
• Advising on product liability (including corrective actions).
You will report to the Deputy Director Corporate Services. It concerns a full-time position, but a 32-hour week is negotiable.
Requirements
You have a degree in Dutch law (LL.M.) with a civil law or business law specialization. You are a generalist and based on your experience you can work independently. You have a minimum of 5 years of relevant working experience, preferably gained in a multinational company or international law firm. You have a pragmatic and proactive attitude. You are a multitasker with good business sense. You have experience in negotiating (international) contracts. Knowledge of European trade and competition law is a must. Knowledge of mergers and acquisitions is considered a plus. You have excellent communication and intercultural skills and a flexible attitude. An excellent understanding of the Dutch and English language, both spoken and written, is a must.
