Job description
Recently,
the prestigious VICI grant from the Dutch Organization for Scientific
Research (NWO) and the Dutch Technology Foundation (STW) was awarded for
the project “Ultrafast 3D Ultrasound Imaging: the next level for
cardiovascular diagnosis”. Goal of this project is to develop a
completely new ultrasound imaging method that is capable of acquiring
ultrasound data in 2D and 3D up to 100 times faster than currently
possible. A research ultrasound machine will be developed as well as
signal processing techniques for functional imaging of the heart and
main arteries. Clinical pilot studies are also part of the project. For
this research project, we have a vacant position for an enthusiastic PhD
student.
The research ultrasound machine will be based on commercially available programmable 2D ultrasound workstations. For ultrafast 3D imaging, intelligent hardware architecture as well as data storage strategies have to be developed and implemented. This part of the project is performed partly in collaboration with the ErasmusMC, Rotterdam.
