Avery Dennison - The Hague Area, Netherlands


Perform a wide range of corporate tasks to assist the Law Department in Leiden, The Netherlands. This role includes the interaction with the Law Departments in California, Hong Kong and Buenos Aires, the Tax and Treasury Departments, the Financial Shared Service Center as well as finance directors and managers in Europe. This position encompasses a variety of tasks and responsibilities and requires excellent organizational skills, self-initiative and motivation.

Reporting Structure:
Directly reports to Vice President and Assistant General Counsel Europe, Middle East, Africa and Latin America


• Assist the members of the Law Department in Europe with Contract Intake Process and other databases with emphasis in the content of the requests from internal clients
• Responsible for restructuring the administrative and systems organization of the Law Department (internal allocations, invoicing, tracking, approval, payments, fee arrangements, etc.)
• Assist in the implementation of E-Billing system
• Work closely with the Law Department members in Europe and where appropriate outside law firms for corporate administrative matters in connection with – for all legal entities in Europe - the approval process of annual accounts, changes in the board of directors, change of corporate office address, including preparation of meeting notices, resolutions, minutes, power of attorneys, and notarial deeds
• Work with Tax, Treasury and outside law firms on formalities related to the formation and liquidation or strike off of legal entities, ensure all documents are properly signed, provided with notarized signatures and apostilles where required.
• Responsible for keeping the corporate data sheet system up to date for Europe, administer all required changes, and communicate any changes to the Finance directors of the business units.
• Collaborate and assist on the development of EMEA Litigation Report.
• Answer questions from the business units, Tax, and Treasury related to corporate matters, and provide them with copies of documents
• Act as liaison with in-house and outside counsel and the Law Department in Pasadena, and Hong Kong, in connection with the signing of corporate documents, and keep track of the documentation that is under preparation
• Responsible for coordination of legalization and authentication of documents with foreign consulates
• Prepare for amendment or drafting and signing of standard intercompany contracts related to services, assistance, licensing, manufacturing, cost sharing, etc., ensure distribution of copies to Tax, Treasury and the business units for administration.
• Manage translations of a variety of documents for the business units, and Law Department.
• Liaise with EDC Helpdesk and IT support for any hardware or software related matters involving members of the Law Department.
• Perform all purchases for the Law Department for stationery, temporary office support, translations, etc.
• Assist head of the department on other secretarial and administrative activities

Desired Skills & Experience

• Excellent organizational and communication (oral and written) skills
• Possess ability to work individually and have ability to work well in a group environment
• Energy, pro-activity and willingness to take over responsibilities and grow within the organization
• Knowledge of languages
• Proficient in Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Lotus Notes
• Bachelor degree in law or similar level education.
• 3-5 years experience in corporate matters for an international organization.
