Professor of European Criminal Law


Functiebeschrijving

    Independent performance of research in the field of European Criminal Law and publication of the results;
    teaching (lectures and tutorials) within the various Master programmes (Criminal Law and Procedure (mainly in Dutch) and Criminal Justice (in English), as well as the coordination of teaching in the Master’s programmes;
    supervising students writing their master thesis within the field of European Criminal Law;
    contributing to the Criminal Justice research programme;
    acquisition of research funding;
    supervising the research of PhD students within the field of European Criminal Law.

All teaching staff employed by Leiden University are required to obtain the University Teaching Qualification (UTQ). If the successful applicant does not already possess this qualification or its equivalent, he or she must be willing to obtain this within two years.
Functie-eisen

    Degree in law;
    a PhD in the field of criminal law or European law;
    broad general knowledge of European criminal law;
    excellent research qualities, demonstrated for example by various (international) publications and research projects performed with external funding;
    extensive experience and affinity with teaching and coordinating courses;
    excellent teaching qualities, demonstrated for example by positive teaching evaluations;
    excellent command of English, spoken and written; a good command of Dutch is an advantage.

Arbeidsvoorwaarden

Initial period of employment in this position is for 5 years. Salary is in accordance with the cao (Collective Labour Agreement) for Dutch universities and is dependent on the candidate’s experience. Gross monthly salary is minimum € 5,103,- and maximum € 7,431,- (salary scale H2 , on a fulltime basis).
