A leading maritime company in the gas sector are looking for someone to join their Dutch office as a Vessel Operator.
 
You will be responsible for the day to day commercial operations of their fleet in order to optimize voyage efficiency. Your tasks will include but not be limited to preparing and issuing voyage orders, communicating with the captain and appointing agents and bunkers.
 
The ideal candidate will have direct experience in vessel operations. (specific experience with gas carriers will be a distinct advantage). Maritime related education is also a preference,

VACANCY: Riser Design Engineer

Your daily activities:

HMC is currently building the Aegir,a state-of-the-art J-lay and Reel-lay vessel for pipelay installation and subsea construction projects in deep to ultradeep water all around the world. Together with the DCV Balder, our deepwater J-lay vessel, it forms HMC's fleet for the offshore deepwater pipelay market, which will be used for EPCI/Turn Key subsea projects. To prepare projects executed with these vessels HMC is working in multidisciplinary projectteams from our Leiden office. As Riser Design Engineer you will be part of these projectteams with challenging projects.
You have the opportunity to be part of the growing subsea product group and experience it's development towards design engineering, procurement and construction expertise. Specifically to strengthen the subsea design engineering side are we looking for capable and experienced designers, up to and including lead engineer experience.
As Riser Design Engineer you will design offshore oil and gas riser- and pipeline systems, components and associated steel and piping structures. Next to that, you are responsible to develop design standards for HMC’s EPCI projects and you have the possibility to grow to a team lead role, in which you can lead a detailed design team.
You are part of a multidisciplinairy EPCI project team, in which you have your own deliverable. You advise the project team on riser design issues.
The job requirements HMC is looking for:
  • You have a Bachelor or Master degree in Civil, Mechanical, Maritime or Aeronautical Engineering or equivalent.
  • You have at least 3 years’ experience with design of steel structures, infrastructure projects or manufactured components.
  • You have the ability to develop design solutions from scratch.
  • You have excellent analytical and pragmatic skills and you have the ability to work autonomously.
  • You have good communication skills in English, both spoken and written.
  • You have the ambition to work (temporarily) offshore on our vessels, overseas or in our other offices.

The Department

The Trade section is involved in the policy setting, planning, pricing and analysis of the various Trades.  The Asia – Europe Trade is responsible for the management of the services which currently run between Europe and Asia.  The main purpose of the department is to set up and manage services on these trade lanes in line with demand while setting commercial policy for the running of these services.  At the same time the department is responsible for marketing, pricing and ensuring a healthy working relationship with the various front offices within MOL.

Job Duties

Product Management : Put forward ideas how to improve the product, by making suggestions to the SVP for introduction of ports, develop new business, and improve existing business. Make suggestions to SVP how to make existing processes more efficient and make more efficient use of resources. Get a proper grip on the supply / demand situation in the trade lane to assist with network modifications. Identification of weak legs in the product and opportunities to remove these.

Pricing Policy: Develop a long-term (6 months – 1 year) pricing policy for eastbound and FOB westbound. The long-term pricing policy is needed as a framework for the pricing teams in Rotterdam to set their short and middle term plans. Discuss the pricing policies with stakeholders in Hong Kong and Rotterdam. Create an environment in which the regional offices understand and sell the policy. The AVP works actively in setting the guidelines for the segmentation. Main criteria are setting the split between forwarder and BCO share. Regular Monitoring of net contribution to fixed costs to determine changes to the pricing policy and business segmentation. Drive Equipment match back & flow balancing.

Organisation: The AVP plays a key role in inter-departmental communication. At head office the AVP plays an important role to discuss both daily issues as well long-term strategies with the GMs/Managers of yield/logistics/sales/other trades. The AVP also needs to play a role in the decision making process for pricing of key accounts in each MSO. Responsibility for developing and using KPIs related to efficient management of the trade lane. Support Key Account Managers & or Procurement in engagement with key external contacts (customers / vendors) during contract negotiations or important meetings. Make a significant contribution to MOL Europe’s Yield Betterment efforts (cross departmental initiative).

People Management: Direct and steer the members of the Eastbound and Westbound Teams in Rotterdam (East-West) Trade management team.  Provide a vision to the teams how to develop the business on both short term and long term. Motivate the people by encourage independent actions, but be available for suggestions and operate as a window for comments/questions from the teams. Facilitate staff engagement / development & succession planning.

The position is based in the Rotterdam Head Office of MOL (Europe) B.V. located in Poortugaal, The Netherlands 
 
Position Qualifications / Experience

8-10 years experience in a Trade or Route Management position with in addition 2 years in a people management position.  Knowledge of the East West Trade would be an advantage but is not essential.

Introduction:

Heerema Marine Contractors (HMC) is a world leading marine contractor in the offshore oil and gas industry. HMC transports, installs and removes all types of offshore facilities. These include fixed structures, complex infrastructures and floating facilities, in shallow water, deepwater and ultra deepwater. The current fleet includes three of the world’s biggest semi submersible construction vessels. Early 2010, HMC has decided to build a new deepwater construction vessel (Aegir). The Aegir will be built in Korea and is scheduled to start offshore operations mid 2013.

During the preparation phase, you will be mainly working at the shipyard sites and fabrication / vendor sites, and occasionally in the Leiden office
Your daily activities:

To supervise and support personnel within the electrical department in the performance of maintenance tasks
To detect, troubleshoot, repair and report malfunctioning of electrical equipment and automation systems
To execute condition monitoring aimed at preventing equipment breakdown
To perform functional tests of safety and emergency shutdown systems To prepare job safety Analyses and perform toolbox talks
You have:

HTS-E / Bachelor degree in Electronics or Electrical Engineering
Managerial skills
Experience with electrical and electronical installations
Knowledge of industrial automation and control systems
Experience with PLC's/Siemens S7 is preferred
Experience with frequency drives is preferred
Knowledge of MS Office applications
Fluent in English language verbally and in writing
DP (dynamic positioning) training is an advantage
