What makes the Dutch Dutch?” Workshop 30 October 2014 (Leuk voor clienten!!!)


For Whom? For newly arrived expats (and expat partners) to give them a head start when settling into Dutch society. Aimed at people who want to make the best of their stay in the Netherlands and who want to get to grips with the Dutch quickly.

What do I get? Participants will receive an introduction to the Dutch language, as well as practical information on the Dutch labour market and Dutch culture. This workshop provides the participants with all they need to know to make their stay in the Netherlands a success.

How Much? This full day workshop costs 185 Euros ex VAT (224.95 Euros incl. VAT) per person, including lunch and drinks.

Where? The workshop takes place at our lovely office in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.

What makes the Dutch Dutch? Find out on the 5th of September! Expertise in Labour Mobility will hold again their introduction workshop for expats and expat partners new to the Netherlands.

This workshop provides the participant with all they need to know to make their stay in the Netherlands a success. It may not help to appreciate the taste of ‘dropjes’, but it will help you to value the Dutch directness slightly better!

The Role

A qualified lawyer from a major European jurisdiction (or someone with equivalent experience) is sought to support our activities in the UK. Ireland and the North Region (Benelux, Nordics and Baltics). The role will be based in our offices in Amsterdam (although location at other major European hubs such as Stockholm, Brussels and Bedfont Lakes will be considered).
Key Deliverables:
• Contributes to the overall success of the business unit.
• Understands the business objectives and tailors legal advice to this.
• Is an integral member of the business unit’s leadership team, earning the tag “trusted business advisor”.
• Acts as primary negotiator for contractual negotiations with Cisco Capital’s customers and business partners, ensuring that contracts are closed in line with forecasts. Has good, pragmatic judgment, knowing when to push and when to hold back in order to keep the business revenue moving while mitigating risk to Cisco Capital and Cisco ..
• Gives reliable, timely legal advice to sales and other functions.
• Participates in other projects as a legal subject matter expert.
• Listens, empathizes and handles needs, objections, issues and concerns over contracts raised by Capital customers and their legal teams.
• Understands and works according to the commercial pressures of a sales business.
• Is prepared when needed to give advice that is urgent at speed. Is able to work and advise in ambiguous and fast-paced situations.
• Helps embed Cisco legal policy within the business unit in order to minimize concerns. Educates and coaches the business unit in order to transfer key legal knowledge and approach to the sales force.
• Acts as a problem solver rather than an issue spotter, focusing on how to get things done rather than how not to. Brings the attitude of an enabler rather than a block to business.
• Overall the formal and informal feedback from the business and customers is positive.

Desired Skills & Experience

Applicants should have at least 8 years’ broad finance experience (preferably including leasing) obtained at a top practice, bank or multinational corporate. Previous experience of in-house work is desirable but not essential.

This role is wide ranging with a lot of responsibility. We require motivated, self reliant individuals with a proven ability to work as part of a small team. Candidates should be individuals with a highly commercial approach who will thrive in a sales-orientated environment. Excellent written and verbal skills in English are essential (and fluency in another European language is highly desirable).

NLR Representative (expatriate, 18 months contract)

For the Nigeria programme we are looking for an

NLR Representative (expatriate, 18 months contract)

NLR is active in Nigeria since 1975 and co-operates with the Federal Ministry of Health and with the State Ministries of Health in 13 states in the North-Eastern Zone of Nigeria. As the Leprosy Control activities in Nigeria are combined with TB control, NLR also supports tuberculosis control activities but with funds from other donors.

The NLR Project Leaders, are usually governmental health officers and are responsible for the day to day project management. NLR is gradually increasing its activities in the area of care and rehabilitation, such in addition to the traditional focus on early case finding and adequate treatment.

In principle, NLR works with long term project agreements. Evaluation and renewal of such agreements, based on a result based approach is an ongoing activity. NLR has an office in Jos in Plateau State. Through this office all staff are deployed amongst which an Office Manager, Head of Finance, four Technical Advisers and some 14 administrative-supportive staff.

What does the work imply?

For a period of 18 months you will manage a transition process wherein a new NLR Representative will be selected and recruited. You will coordinate the development of a new NLR strategy for Nigeria and give it shape. You will carefully assess the current location of the NLR Office and inventory alternatives and effectuate a possible move to a new location. At the end of your tenure you will hand over all responsibilities to the new Representative.

As Representative you will be responsible for the management of the NLR supported programme in Nigeria and the NLR Nigeria Office. You will also see to a proper management of funds from other donors such as GFATM and TBCARE who contribute to the TB-component of the combined TBL Control Programmes.

You will manage the NLR Nigeria programme within the framework of an annual plan and budget approved by NLR headquarters. Thereby a result based approach in all phases of the programme and the project management cycle is leading. You will further rehabilitation activities and identify possibilities for institutional funding and contribute to proposal development.

You will see to the timely production, processing and transmission of required plans and reports.

You will foster and maintain good cooperation with all relevant stakeholders. Close contact and regular communication with NLR's Project Department is a prerequisite for a successful functioning.

Who are we looking for?

You have a relevant professional background, college level or higher, (a medical background is not a prerequisite) and a good command of English. You have excellent analytical skills and are able to communicate clearly and concisely both orally as well in writing.

You have experience with living and working abroad, preferably in Africa and with programme- and project management. You know how to run an office comprising multidisciplinary staff and how to work with elaborate financial administrative systems and donor requirements.

You are willing to travel regularly throughout Nigeria. You have a clear affinity with poverty- and disease control. You are in possession of good interpersonal and diplomatic skills and are able to listen and to compromise, while remaining mission and result oriented. You have a flexible attitude and can cope with a dynamic workload.

What do we offer?

A responsible temporary position with a challenging agenda. We offer an organization committed to the global fight against an often ignored disease. The starting station of duty will be Jos. For various reasons NLR considers Jos less suitable for families.

The basic salary we offer is, depending on experience, in the range of € 2.150 and € 4.073 net per month. In addition we provide a package of secondary benefits such as housing and insurances.
