Vacancy: Head of Programme, Policy & Research (The Hague - cultural heritage)

Our office is based in the National Library of the Netherlands in The Hague. You will work on a wide variety of European projects together with a network of cultural institutions, research organizations and creative industries from all over Europe to provide new forms of access to culture.

What will be the core responsibilities of this job?
As Head of Programmes, Policy & Research you will be responsible for:
  • Facilitating, managing and coaching the work of the experts in Project Coordination, R&D, IPR and Knowledge Management, by supporting their roles and ensuring that their results are properly integrated into other areas of the business.
  • Creating proposals under European funding frameworks to run projects that push the boundaries on multilingualism, interoperability, re-use of digital objects and access to cultural heritage across borders.
  • Manage the programme of projects and subcontracts that fund Europeana ensuring that duties are understood and deadlines are met within the organisation.
  • Hosting project meetings and making sure that the Europeana Professional website meets user knowledge and communication requirements.
  • Working with policy-makers, at national and EU levels, on the environmental changes needed to create easy and open access to our cultural and scientific heritage.
  • Facilitating the work of Europeana’s Aggregation and Distribution/Engagement teams and contributing partners by driving forward solutions in data modeling, multilingualism, rights etc.
What set of skills and knowledge should you bring?
  • Strong, coaching-based management skills
  • Good lateral thinker
  • Rigorous organisational and process capability
  • Broad knowledge of the cultural and scientific heritage landscape
  • Ability to motivate people and to communicate and engage with different stakeholders
  • Fluency in English, both oral and written
  • Creativity and ability to work well under pressure
  • A minimum of 5 years work experience
  • Previous experience in an international and complex environment is a plus
  • Previous experience in the sector of cultural heritage is a plus
What are the benefits?
Depending on your experience and skills, your monthly gross salary will be between EURO 3,228 - 5,048 (scale 11-12), in line with the Collective Labour agreement for Research Institutes. Furthermore you will have: 42 days holiday per year, a holiday allowance (around 8%) and an annual bonus (around 8%).
It’s also important to know that we are based in the National Library of the Netherlands in The Hague, close to Central Station.
