Job Description

The Legal department
The legal department provides advice to the organisation in various legal areas. The department is involved in the solving of complex legal issues of different nature. In addition the legal department is directly involved in the negotiation of complex contracts and supervision of any legal procedures.
Contracts Manager / Quantity surveyor
 
As a Contracts Manager you work from within the Legal department. You know your contracts inside out.
You have the skill to signal possible obstacles well ahead and to act accordingly. You will help to draft contracts during the tender phase and will manage the contract in execution. You will ensure that the contractual terms and conditions, including variations, of the contracts for offshore scopes of work are acceptable to HMC and comply with HMC’s bidding and contracting policy, in order to minimize unfavorable legal or financial consequences for HMC.
 
As Contracts Manager you report to the Senior Legal Counsel and to the Project Manager when assigned to a project. Besides, you will work closely together with the Tender Managers, Tender Coordinators, Project Managers and Staff departments like Tax.
 
Your daily activities
  • Assist and advise the Project Manager on contractual matters, both client and subcontractor related;
  • Support the Tender Manager or Project Manager during client negotiations;
  • Create a contractual key condition summary for contracts;
  • Manage variation orders and change requests;
  • Improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the contractual qualification process;
  • Document the qualification process;
  • Maintain an archive of past client contractual terms and conditions and the qualifications thereto;
  • Maintain an archive of change order filing and correspondence.
Your profile
  • You have 4 to 6 years’ working experience of which 3 in the offshore oil and gas industry or contracting business, preferably with complex projects,
  • You are familiar with basic English contract law,
  • You have a Bachelor degree in engineering and have gained experience with contracts through your occupation or by additional schooling. A degree in Law is also accepted, as long as you have relevant working experience in the industries mentioned above,
  • You have excellent analytical and pragmatic skills,
  • You have impeccable communication skills in English, both spoken and written,
  • You will be working in our international headquarter in Leiden, the Netherlands, but you are willing to travel on a regular basis and are open for an assignment abroad should the project at hand require.

VACANCY: Design Package Engineer

Your tasks and responsibilities:

As a design package engineer you are responsible for managing subsea design packages. You will manage the interfaces between the design subcontractor, the EPIC project team and the client. You make sure all engineering issues and questions raised by clients and other subcontractors are dealt with.
It is your task as design package engineer to pursue timely completion of engineering work for your own design packages in accordance with the main contract requirements. Next to that you compile technical input for procurement and subcontract packages and you communicate that with supply chain and construction project team members. During your work, you have contact with vendors and subcontractors about technical requirements and quality issues.
The department:
The Technology Department within Heerema Marine Contractors performs the complete preparation and engineering for installation and removal projects, give engineering support to projects that will be prepared in one of our other offices all over the world and give engineering support to equipment (new-build/modification) scopes including our vessels.
The job requirements:
  • You have a Bachelor or Master degree in Civil or Mechanical engineering, Ship building or Offshore technology.
  • You have at least 5 years’ work experience within offshore engineering/construction companies in relevant positions. Experience with EPIC projects is a pre.
  • You have in-depth knowledge of subsea design or flowlines and risers design.
  • You have a drive to make things happen while being aware of quality and safety.
  • You have good understanding of the drivers in a complex project environment.
  • You have good communication skills in English, both spoken and written.

Your daily activities:

As Engineer you will join the Technology department and work in project teams supporting the preparation and execution of the projects offshore.
