Customer Service Intern

Job Description
Customer Service Intern will work with the engineers on daily issue logs, lab infrastructure setups and onsite field support for Irdeto Middleware, Customer Care and Billing, Broadband and CA applications, and the hardware and software infrastructure that Service them. The CS Intern will work with his/her team members and other Irdeto resources to identify and resolve more difficult issues with the Irdeto applications in an effort to identify defects, influence the development of application workarounds and assist Irdeto Customer Service in resolving customer issues related to use of the Irdeto applications.

Required Skills
Verify code fixes that are part of the core product.
Assist Customer Service in bringing complex Service issues to resolution in a timely fashion.
Ensure that all Enhancements are captured and logged on CRM System
Develop knowledge of Irdeto software products and new system updates, as they become available.
Tracking issues on CRM/TFS.
Virtualisation of Setups
Support ATPs
Review documentation for completeness against actual.
Some travelling maybe expected at the end of the year programme once knowledge base of DVB is acceptable.
Complete at least one project for the CS EMEA Team
Ability to work independently and within a global team of hi-level professionals.

Required Experience
Knowledge of digital broadcasting, MPEG-2, DVB and IP systems
Windows Server 2003/2008 and SQL databases – preferably MS SQL 2005/2008.
Understanding of network infrastructure (vlans switching and routing).
Knowledge of IGMP and multicasting.
Experience with protocols and servers HTTP, SNMP, DNS, DHCP, NFS, NIS, FTP, TFTP, NTP.
.NET , XML\XSLT , Javascript/CSS/HTML, C#, PHP, AJAX

General Counsel

Job Description

The Vice President Legal (or General Counsel of Legal) is responsible for all legal and contractual support of Irdeto’s global business.

Primary responsibilities:

Structure and manage the global legal and contractual staff and process(es), to ensure Irdeto’s goals can be achieved
Provide analysis and counsel on legal, policy and commercial issues to include: proposed new products, protecting intellectual property, mergers & acquisitions, compliance issues, non-disclosure agreements, master services agreements, license and royalty agreements
Develop and recommend company policy and position on legal issues, closely aligned with MIH and Naspers legal counsel.
Support critical contract negotiations, commercial deals, suppliers etc
Write and administer complex vendor and client contracts
Provide legal counsel on issues arising from actuals or anticipated lawsuits
Anticipate and guard against legal risks facing the company
Represent the company or its officials in various legal proceedings
Manage the relationships with external law firms using them for external advice when appropriate

Manage the company’s internal legal team:

Two Legal Business Partners for the Online and Digital-TV divisions
One Legal Shared Services manager responsible for the back-office legal support (maintaining company standards, contract management, compliance)

Additional responsibilities:

As part of the CFO leadership team, the General Counsel (or Vice President Legal) has an overall responsibility within the team to support and constructively support, but also where appropriate challenge all key projects and initiatives
Specifically the General Counsel (or Vice President Legal) has a role supporting Irdeto’s Directors in their fiduciary duties and being one of the custodians of the integrity of the business
If required the General Counsel (or Vice President Legal) will also participate in projects outside of his direct area of responsibility

Interfaces and Authorities:

Internal

All Irdeto departments, Irdeto Group Companies, (relevant) Naspers contacts
Responsible for global contract managers and contract admin
Working closely with the business owners, sales and the business support teams
(MIH/Naspers) Working closely with the group legal council

External

External partners (vendors, partners, customers), law firms

Working conditions:

This position can be based in either the Netherlands or the US (Carlsbad or San Francisco). It shall depend on were the selected candidate comes from.
Frequent travelling may be required

Experience in negotiating commercial deals in the IT Services industry

Good base understanding of international commercial law, preferably with experience in North America, Europe and/or AsiaPacific
Good managerial skills as the Legal team will be based in various countries, cultures and time zones.
Experience with (re)structuring a global legal team,
Modesty to know when to seek external advice to supplement knowledge on a matter or to fill a knowledge/experience gap;
Excellent in English specifically in report writing and presentations
Relevant law degree and professional experience
Experience in a similar position for a global company or in an advisory function for a law firm
Highly trustworthy as the position will require a high level of confidentiality

Introduction of the ‘European Blue Card’

As from 19 June 2011 the Netherlands has a new purpose of stay: the European Blue Card. The European Blue Card is a separate purpose of stay in addition to the existing National Highly Skilled Migrant Programme. The EU Blue Card Council Directive is intended for highly skilled foreign nationals who do not have EU, EEA or Swiss nationality, and who wish to work in one of the member states of the EU. The Directive is also meant to make it easier to settle in another EU member state. A residence permit will always be required in that other member state, however. To obtain this residence permit the employee must comply with the conditions applicable in that member state.

The conditions for residence in the Netherlands as an EU Blue Card holder are stricter than those for residence as a Highly Skilled Migrant. The employee must have a contract for highly qualified employment for at least one year, earning at least EUR 60,000 gross (in 2011). The employee must have completed a course of higher education lasting at least three years. The employee must prove this by having his diploma assessed by Nuffic. For a regulated profession, a competent authority will take decisions about the admission to that profession.

Advantages
One of the advantages of the EU Blue Card is that it is easier for an EU Blue Card holder and his family members to settle in another EU member state at a later date. After eighteen months foreign nationals who have an EU Blue Card are exempted from the provisional residence permit (MVV) requirement, if they want to work in another EU member State. In this second member state the employee must submit an application for a residence permit as a holder of an EU Blue Card. Each member state may implement the directive in slightly different ways. If someone holds a Blue Card in the Netherlands, this does not mean that the requirements are also met in other member states.

Another advantage is that after having stayed lawfully with the EU Blue Card holder in the Netherlands for two years, the family members may apply for a residence permit for ‘continued residence’. For other purposes of stay this is only possible after having stayed lawfully in the Netherlands for three years. The family members must have resided legally and continuously within the territory of an EU member state for at least five years, however. An employee who has stayed legally in the Netherlands as an EU Blue Card holder for two years may apply for the status of ‘long-term resident as a non-EU member country national’. He must have resided legally and continuously within EU territory for five years and must comply with the other conditions for this purpose of stay.

Highly skilled migrants from outside of the EU

A highly skilled migrant is a migrant who comes to the Netherlands to be employed, and has a gross annual income of at least €47,565, or €34,881 if he/she is under thirty. This income requirement does not apply if the employee enters service for certain functions in an educational or research institution. For information on the specific functions to which this clause applies, you can inquire at the IND office for labour and highly skilled migrants. When a foreign national has been granted residence in the Netherlands as a highly skilled migrant, the employer of the highly skilled migrant is not required to be in possession of a work permit for that foreign national.

Professional soccer players, ministers of religion, teachers of religion and prostitutes are not eligible for a residency as highly skilled migrant.
