Erasmus
Graduate School of Law (EGSL) has a vacant position for researcher /
PhD candidate in Tax Law to do research in the area of 'Charitable
Fundraising in the Era of Globalisation: International Aspects of Tax
Incentives for the Public Benefit'.
EGSL offers a full-time study programme of 60 ECTs during the first year (probationary year). The mandatory courses entail 30 ECTs and the remaining 30 ECTs are devoted to writing a research proposal under the guidance of a doctoral supervisor. In case of admission to the further trajectory, the three subsequent years are devoted entirely to research that will result in a doctoral thesis.

Requirements
The
candidate must have a master’s degree, either a legal degree or a
master’s degree in humanities or social sciences with a relevant
specialization in philanthropy, culture or the arts or another
specialization which is demonstrably relevant for the research theme.
The candidate also must have an interest in the tax aspects of
charitable giving. The candidate must excel academically and must have a
firm ambition to pursue a PhD degree. For this research project the
candidate should be able to conduct the research in English and must
have an excellent written and spoken command of English. Further more
you have research qualities; in particular analytical skills,
creativity, perseverance, and the ability to work independently.
Conditions of employment
For
employment at the Erasmus University Rotterdam we offer you a temporary
contract for one year. Within this year, the suitability to conduct
doctoral research will be tested. The contract can subsequently be
extended with a half-year period. Within this half year you must apply
for an NWO grant. Following the submission of this NWO application, it
will be assessed whether a contract for the position of promovendus will
be offered. The salary is according the CAO of the Dutch Universities.
The EUR has attractive employment conditions, which include a holiday allowance of 8.0%, an end-of-year bonus of 8.3% and 41 annual vacation days in case of a full workweek.
