Job description
A
system for indoor mapping based on three 2D laser scanners and a six
degree-of-freedom SLAM procedure has been proposed recently (article).
The task of the postdoctoral researcher is to optimise the design of
this indoor mapping system, construct the system, analyse its
performance, and suggest improvements. Design issues include the optimal
configuration of the scanners, the SLAM procedure, as well as the
scanner and IMU specifications. The aim is to realise a hand-held or
backpack system to enable efficient acquisition of point clouds of
indoor environments.
