Centrum Wiskunde & Informatica (CWI) seeks outstanding candidates to apply for a Tenure tracker in ... Centrum Wiskunde & Informatica (CWI) - Amsterdam — AcademicTransfer

The CWI software
engineering research activity has a high reputation and visibility in
the international research community, and is well connected to local and
European industry. Our mission is to fundamentally understand software
and software engineering better; to simplify software and software

engineering in order to predict software quality aspects such as
maintainability, safety, energy consumption and information security
which have a high societal impact.

Software Analytics is the
study of all data related to software and its engineering processes,
including code, in order to learn to understand software and software
engineering and be able to predict and manipulate important quality
factors of software artifacts.

The successful candidate is
expected to grow a highly visible and successful research program in
Software Analytics at CWI. The work will relate closely to the current
research areas of forward and  everse software engineering (language
engineering, formal methods, and source code analysis).

The Software Analytics position both extends and completes our current research efforts:

  • to
include the study of different artifacts next to algorithms, languages
and source code, namely requirement specifications, bug reports, test
    cases, execution traces, revision histories, etc;
  • to emphasize a highly effective combination of experimental and formal research methods, including data analysis and mining;
  • to independently study (in)validation of proposed theory and technology in forward and reverse software engineering.
It
is expected the candidate will both initiate and maintain industrial
partnerships and acquire research funding via European and national
funding agencies. The candidate will also be responsible for the
recruitment, selection and supervision of post-doctoral researchers and
PhD students. Finally, the candidate will occasionally teach
master-level software engineering (guest) courses at selected
universities in The Netherlands and abroad.

Requirements

We seek
candidates holding a doctoral degree in computer science and having an
outstanding record in software engineering research, exemplified by peer
reviewed publications in the leading conferences and journals of the
field. Next to this, candidates can show evidence of experience with
large scale software engineering projects, preferably on different
managerial levels (programmer, program manager, stakeholder).

CWI expects its tenure track researchers to speak Dutch at the end of the tenure track.

Conditions of employment

The
position is for three or five years depending on knowledge and
experience. At the end of a successful tenure track term a permanent
scientific staff position will be offered. Criteria for evaluation
comprise a track record of publications that is well above average, and
the ability to acquire funding and to build up an (inter)national
network and reputation.

The terms of employment are in accordance
with the Dutch Collective Labour Agreement for Research Centres
("CAO-onderzoeksinstellingen"). Depending on relevant work experience,
the gross monthly starting salary for an employee on a full time basis
ranges from € 3,228 to € 4,439. Employees are also entitled to a holiday
allowance of 8% of the gross annual salary and a year-end bonus of
8,33%.

CWI offers attractive working conditions, including flexible scheduling and help with housing for expat employees.
